Main Attractions in Koh Samui

Big Buddha

Big Buddha is probably the most famous of the attractions here on Koh Samui. It stands at over 15 meters tall and was built back in 1972 to allow all visitors to pay their respects to Lord Buddha.

Hin Ta Hin Yai

Is also a very popular attraction located just south of Lamai. The formation is also known as grandmother and grandfather rocks due to their interesting and yet amusing shapes.

Namuang Waterfalls

Two waterfalls grace this scenic and beautiful area of Koh Samui. Namuang one is 8 meters in height.  Whilst Namuang two is 80 meters in height and requires a relatively easy
30-minute trek through the jungle.

Samui Crocodile Farm

Located on 7000sqm of land only a stone throw away from the airport. This is the home of Saltwater and Siam Crocodiles, various lizards, snakes and even monkeys.

Santiburi Championship Golf Course

A stunningly beautiful 18-hole golf course, dubbed by some as the most beautiful in the world, set in the hills of Maenam with sea views over the mountains and into Koh Phangan.

Phang Ka Snake Farm

Some of the most venomous snakes in the world reside here. With some very skilled (some might argue, stupid) snake wranglers playing for the snakes attention. One crazier shows to be seen on Samui, but highly entertaining!

Butterfly Garden

Situated in beautiful Laem Set, the garden offers visitors the chance to see first hand a multitude of different species native to the island. The gardens are beautifully laid out with lush tropical features. Inside, visitors will find a Thai style Bee House in which the bees can be observed. The insect museum, also located here, is the home to many different and rare species from Thailand and further afield.

Samui Aquarium and Tiger Zoo

Samui Aquarium, also located in the beautiful Laem Set, is the home for many variants of Thailand’s marine life, including several sharks! The Zoo opposite holds parrots, sea hawks, otters and even fearsome Asian tigers, albeit camera friendly, which will even pose for a picture with you.

Scuba Diving

There are many scuba diving schools around Koh Samui which is a popular dive training center for SE Asia. Along with Kao Tao, Samui offers a range of diving opportunities for all levels and a number of reefs are found off Samui’s shores. Two of the most popular sites for advanced divers are Sail Rock and Angthong National Marine Park.
